Arch Bridge over Tlawng River at Mizoram, India
The picturesque state of Mizoram in Northeast India recently witnessed the completion and launch of a transformative infrastructure project: a 100-meter steel arch bridge over the Tlawng River, now serving as a critical connection between Lengpui Airport and Aizawl, the state capital.
This new bridge not only enhances accessibility and travel convenience but also marks a significant engineering achievement in a region characterized by challenging terrain.
At the heart of this structure’s success lies robust collaboration and high-performance materials. Dextra, together with its trusted partner Poddar Infra Tech, proudly contributed to this project by supplying 18.8 tons of Grade 520 Tension Rods and accessories.
Dextra’s Role and Contribution
Known for delivering high-quality engineered solutions for structural connections, Dextra was selected to provide the tension rod system that would support the stability and dynamic performance of this arch bridge. The Grade 520 steel used offers high tensile strength and excellent fatigue resistance — essential properties for a bridge designed to endure variable loading and environmental stress.
These tension rods play a critical role in maintaining the geometric integrity of the arch structure, helping to distribute forces efficiently while ensuring long-term durability and safety.
A Milestone for the Region
Inaugurated recently, the bridge is a landmark for Mizoram’s infrastructure development and is expected to catalyze further economic and social connectivity in the region. The bridge also represents a successful model of modern engineering meeting regional development goals.
“We are honored to have contributed to such an important project,” said a Dextra spokesperson. “Working with Poddar Infra Tech on this venture allowed us to combine engineering excellence with on-site execution expertise to help bring this bridge to life.”
