The Port of Sète is a large sea port opened to the Meditteranean Sea. It is the largest fishing port in the South of France. It also serves many ferry connections towards Tangiers and other destinations in North Africa.

Sète Port and its main sponsor, Region Languedoc Rousillon, wish to increase the container capacity of the port by adding a new quay (Quay H, 15 meters deep) to their existing infrastructure. The new quay will increase both handling and storage capacity of containers.

To support contractor Soletanche-Bachy in the construction of this new structure, Dextra engineered and delivered 74 Marine Tie Rods assemblies. The tie rods systems delivered are the largest currently available in our range: M160.

Large diameter assemblies allow to reduce the number of sets which need to be installed by increasing the spacing between each rod.

The long tie rods assemblies were anchored into the D-Wall by the installation of ball cages, which allow a rotation angle of 10° in all directions.

The Ball Cages were installed into reinforcement of the D-Wall and cast in concrete. After excavation, ball cages were open to allow the reconnection of the threaded ends of the rods.
