The Viaducto del Manglar project is a 5.3 km bridge project spanning over the Ciénaga de la Virgen (swamp), north of the City of Cartagena, Colombia. The project aims to reduce traffic congestion when exiting the city in the Zona Norte (North Area).
For this project, Dextra supplied its Headed Bar systems, used into large prefabricated caissons, in order to reduce the reinforcement congestion. That application allow designers to lower the steel/concrete ratio in eleemnts. Headed Bars are also much easier to install, as they fit on straight bar that can be inserted in the case easily.
